ANSEM, a memcoin launched in tribute to popular trader Ansem, reached a market capitalization of $131 million, yet its creator realized only $5.5 thousand in profits despite holding tokens valued at $17.1 million at peak prices.
The creator invested $6.3 thousand to launch the token and received 792.45 million ANSEM tokens, which were worth $95.1 million at the asset's all-time high. The creator then transferred 650 million ANSEM—valued at approximately $78 million at peak—directly to trader Ansem himself, effectively gifting the majority of his holdings to the token's namesake.
Retaining 142.45 million ANSEM tokens for himself, the creator held an unrealized position worth $17.1 million at the token's peak valuation. However, he liquidated his entire position almost immediately after launch for just $11.8 thousand, resulting in a net gain of only $5.5 thousand after accounting for initial deployment costs. The rapid exit suggests either risk aversion or inability to execute larger sales without significant market impact.
