Starknet has topped the rankings for developer activity among layer-2 blockchains over the past 30 days, according to data from Santiment, a blockchain analytics platform. Aztec and Optimism secured second and third positions respectively in the monthly developer engagement index.
The top ten layer-2 networks by developer activity comprised zkSync in fourth place, Arbitrum in fifth, Cartesi in sixth, Polygon in seventh, Fuel Network in eighth, MegaETH in ninth, and Immutable X rounding out the list at tenth position. Developer activity metrics track commit frequency, code contributions, and ecosystem engagement among blockchain builders.
The ranking reflects sustained competition among Ethereum-based scaling solutions to attract development talent and expand their technical ecosystems. Starknet's lead aligns with its recent progress on Cairo smart contract language adoption and infrastructure improvements, while Arbitrum and Optimism maintain significant developer bases despite facing increased competition from emerging layer-2 alternatives.
