Tom Lee's Bitmine has acquired 27,084 ETH worth $42.7 million, according to an announcement by the cryptocurrency firm. The purchase brings Bitmine's total ethereum holdings to 5.7 million ETH, valued at approximately $9 billion, representing roughly 4.7% of total ETH supply in circulation.
The company's balance sheet reflects significant ethereum exposure alongside substantial liquidity. Of Bitmine's total ETH holdings, 4.88 million tokens are currently staked and generating yields, accounting for more than 85% of the firm's on-chain ethereum position worth $7.7 billion. The firm maintains $555 million in free cash and liquid securities available for potential reserve replenishment or additional acquisitions.
Bitmine's accumulation strategy underscores growing institutional confidence in ethereum amid market volatility. The company's decision to stake the majority of its holdings demonstrates a long-term commitment to the protocol while generating passive income through validator rewards and participation incentives.
