Ripple has obtained full authorization to provide cryptocurrency payment services throughout the European Economic Area under the bloc's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), marking a significant regulatory milestone for the XRP-linked payments company.
The approval grants Ripple a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license, enabling the firm to operate payment services across all EU member states and EEA countries under a unified regulatory framework. The MiCA licensing regime, which came into full effect in December 2024, requires crypto service providers to meet stringent capital, governance, and consumer protection standards before operating legally in the bloc.
The authorization strengthens Ripple's position in Europe, where it has built partnerships with regional financial institutions for cross-border payments. The company has long positioned itself as a bridge between traditional banking and digital assets, and the MiCA license removes regulatory uncertainty that previously limited its operational scope in the continent's 34-nation EEA, which includes EU members plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.
